We're Engaged!!!!!!! March 26, 2015

Its official and I can finally tell the world.....

WE'RE ENGAGED!!!!!!

We've been trying to keep it a secret until it was official. That's easier said than done when you've got people asking if you're going to get married. People could sense it, I swear. But now it's official and I can proudly say that I am going to marry my love, Chase Freebairn, on June 11, 2015 in the Ogden LDS Temple. I couldn't be more happy or more grateful for the sealing covenant that allows families to be together forever. Oh how I love Chase and I don't even want to be separated from him. Our loving Heavenly Father has provided a way for us to be together always, even after death. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the greatest!

The Proposal Story

Chase and I met in 2012 at a bonfire up Ogden Canyon. A few months later we started dating and continued to date casually until I decided to go on a mission in the spring of 2013. (Poor Chase had no clue I was going on a mission until I announced on social media that I had gotten my call. Whoops.) When I got back from Canada, we got in contact and he ended up coming to my homecoming. He dipped out quick after I spoke (because he had a meeting to get to) so I didn't get a change to talk to him. I contacted him on Facebook and told him we should get together sometime. We went out that following Friday and have been dating ever since!

After a few months of dating we fell in love and shortly thereafter decided to get married. I let him know that I wanted to pick out my own ring (if I'm going to wear it forever, I really wanted to love it). Chase's darling mother Nancy gave us one of her mother's rings so we could use her diamond in our ring. I cried. I was so touched to be given such a sweet and personal gift. I really felt like I was being excepted into the family.

We ended up meeting with Craig White of White Diamonds (http://whitediamondsutah.com/) It was SO MUCH FUN picking out rings! He let me try on lots of different rings and everything can be customized to exactly what you want. He's also super willing to meet with you somewhere if you can't get to his office. We really loved working with him. We found a setting that we both loved and had it ordered in yellow gold - my favorite metal. Another nice thing about Craig is that every ring you purchase from him is brand new! He has his samples but he orders a new ring to be made just for you. Love that!

The ring took about two weeks to come in and Chase received the call that it was ready. Craig had set Chase's grandma's diamond in the setting we'd picked out and when Chase arrived Craig handed him the ring to inspect. When Chase opened the box, his heart dropped. The ring had be made in white gold, not yellow. He pointed out the mistake to Craig, his heart dropped as well. Never before had this mistake been made in all his years of working as a jeweler. The ring had to be reordered and we were going to have to wait to more weeks.

After Chase left the appointment he called my mother and his mother wondering if he should tell me or not. He texted my mom and, of course, I just so happened to see that he had texted her. My first thought was, "He's got the ring and he's asking me tonight!" I quickly let her know he phone buzzed and run into my room to do my hair and touch up my make up so I could look my best. A little while later Chase came in and told me he needed to talk to me. He looked sicked to his stomach and I began to imagine a hundred different terrible things that could have caused such a look. He then proceeded to tell me about what happened when he went to pick up the ring and how we were going to have to wait for them to remake the ring. I was a bit bummed (to say the least) but I was glad it was only that.

Alrighty, two more weeks go by. I've already gone dress shopping (loved every minute of it!) with my sisters and mom and found the dress. I felt a little foolish going dress shopping before I was officially engaged but the sales consultants assured me it was pretty normal. Chase and I are hanging out at his house on Sunday and he asks me what I've got going on the coming week. I tell him not much, I've got an appointment Thursday and other than that just getting ready for the cruise we were going on with his family that coming Friday. He then tells me I shouldn't plan anything for Thursday. Welp, that was obvious.

The next day he texted me and told me he had a work party in Huntsville (up Ogden Canyon) Thursday night and asked me if I would like to go with him. Of course I was willing to go. It was also conveniently located near where we first met. I thought well we'll go to this party and then afterward he'll probably take me there and propose.

Thursday night comes. I get all gussied up. New dress. Did my hair. Wore some heels. The whole shabang. He picks me up. We start driving. I'm getting excited for work party and even more excited for what I'm praying is our engagement! When all of the sudden, Chase tells me he "left his water on" and needs to call his cousin/roommate to turn it off right at the same time we turn up Old Snowbasin Road.

Huh.

Well, the wheels start clicking. I was DJing and my music selection quickly changed to Bruno Mars' I Think I Want to Marry You and Ellie Golding's Dear Future Husband. Oh yeah. This was happening.

We pull up to the parking lot and there at the trail head is a beautiful fire. We get out of the car and he walks around and takes my hand. We walk along a beautiful candle lite, flower peddled path to a beautiful setting. A huge bouquet of my favorite flowers were sitting there, candles, lights. It was beyond perfect. Of course, I can't help myself and I'm kissing him all along the way.

He got down on one knee. I couldn't control myself. I had to kiss him even before he got one word out. Then he ask,

"Will you marry me?"

My joy was beyond what I can describe. I wanted nothing more than to be with him forever. I said, "YES!" and the happy cry came on.

How did I ever get so bless?!

He had planned well. His cousin Aly was in the bushes take pictures the whole time. His great friend Greg was across the stream, just out of sight paying guitar. It was perfect.

By the time we had finished being caught up in the moment, celebrating with good friends and headed back to the car his family was there. We got to celebrate with them and then we were off to show my family. I had the huge blessing of my sister being in town and as able to show her and parents my ring and share the story. Then I got to go show and tell all my aunties and cousins who live around. It was the greatest night.

It was made better knowing that we were going to be sealed together for time and all eternity in a temple of God. We didn't have the promise of "until death do you part." We had the promise of forever as long as we work hard and live worthy of that blessing.

Marriage with the hope and promise of eternity is really the best.
