Hello FAMILY & FRIENDS!!!
Well I'm in Ottawa! English speaking! With Sister Landeen!!!! I'm the most Blessed! We have AMAZING ward missionaries and an AMAZING ward! We are so spoiled! Ottawa is awesome. Google Map it sometime. There is this thing called the Green Belt where the government decided that for a mile around the city they wouldn't allow anything to be built so its just green...for a mile. Its awesome!
Sister Landeen and I opened a new area! Its called Fallowfield Forest. This area has had Elders in it for a while and we are the first sisters who have been here in like 14 to 16 years depending on who you talk to. We share the ward with a set of elders and its awesome! Seriously, we got a NEW car (like brand new, it had like 50 clicks on it when we got it), new phone, new (to missionaries) apartment and we have the most amazing ward ever! Day one we had ward members calling us, asking if we had everything we needed, inviting us to dinner, anything and everything. We are so BLESSED! Our area gets a bit country which is awesome but there are heaps of bugs.
I have to tell you about the most amazing families! There are heaps of them. One we particularly love is the Fong Family. The dad is the assistant to the ward mission leader. Sister and Brother Fong are in their late 20s, they both served missions and they have the funniest kids! Gina is 3 and Zerik is 18 months. They are amazing. They invited us to dinner the first week we were here, drove us out to our dinner appointment on Sunday and today Sister Fong gave us haircuts for free. We are so blessed! Gina says some pretty funny things like "We're watching Risky-Cats (AristoCats)!" and "You're not like the Elder Brothers." She loves that there are sister missionaries and we LOVE her! Its so hard not to scoop those kids up and love on them.
Also, because part of our area is country slash by a big river, there are turtles. Big snapping turtles and some little turtles. We have been warned to watch for them as we drive and to not pick up the snapping turtles unless we want to lose a finger.
The ward is amazing. We compare it to Disneyland - everyone is happy all the time. Genuinely happy! We love them!
Now to tell you about Sister Landeen. She is AMAZING! No one could be better. I LOVE her. We have such a good time together! She is from American Fork. Has her bachelor's from SUU. She's 21. She cooks a mean breakfast and I love her. Seriously, we have so much fun all the time. We always joke and laugh no matter what we are doing. Because we opened/are opening up a new area we've had a lot of leg work to do. We made a giant awesome map where we've pinned investigators, former investigators, ward members, less actives, recent converts, grocery stores (we live across the street from Walmart), etc. Its a beautiful map. Sister Landeen is just the best. She's so kind and patient and fun and positive and beautiful and we just get along really well. I love it. I'm so happy here and I feel so blessed to be here! We haven't even been here a week and we're already talking about how we hope we get to stay here, together for another transfer so Sister Landeen can finish training me and so can spend as much time as we can in this ward. We LOVE it! The Fongs are leaving for vaca/a family wedding in Alberta Wednesday and we are so bummed because they won't get back for five weeks! Another reason why we want to stay so we don't have to say goodbye forever!
Love you all! The church is true! God loves us so much and blesses us more than we realize!!
