Bonjour ma Famille,
Well, I finally got poutinerie and beavertails. It was worth the wait. And then some. I'm pretty sure heaven is going to be full of poutinerie everywhere we go but we won't get that heavy "whoa, I just ate five lbs of french fries, cheese curds and gravy" feeling. Its brilliant Sister Landeen and I shared a traditional with nothing extra on it and I thought I would die of joy right on the spot. Beavertails were pretty good too. Its just thin scones with cinnamon sugar and stuff on it. Delicious but poutinerie was better haha. We went to Smoke's Poutinerie in downtown Ottawa and its the best. Without trying any other poutinerie I'm going to declare it the best. They had some dang good gravy.
So we got to go see the changing of the guard today! It was super cool and way fun! We met this young couple at a baptism the elders' had last Monday and found out the the guy was one of the guards and he invited us to come slash got us reserved seating! Super awesome! It's one of those things where everyone stands around a roped yard but his cute wife and mom were with us. They just went up to the guard at the fence and said that we were on the list and sure enough, they lift up the rope and we got to sit front row center on the yard. It was so neat! Really, really cool.
One of our investigators, Jacqueline, left on vacation on Sunday to Nova Scotia to stay with her grandma. Super lame! She was really starting to progress and we are a little nervous because her grandma's JW and it super far away and we don't know if we could send missionaries there because we didn't know how the grandma would feel about that. But Sister Landeen had a brilliant idea of making a advent calendar for her with different scriptures she could read each day. The scriptures follow the lessons in Preach My Gospel, which she's already been taught, and we told her we would be calling her and making sure she was reading. She's amazing. She knitted us grocery bags. They are super amazing, I'll have to take a picture and send it to you.
Cynthia, another investigator, lives right by Jacqueline and has really started to progress! She has two pit bull looking dogs named Bump and Sandy and a cat named Blacky. She's wonderful. She lives alone and was never able to have children but she is full of so much love for everyone around her! She's just soaks up everything we teach her when we're able to have real, full lessons. We ended up spending a few hours at her house this last week doing some service trying to figure out how to send some information to the company that is making a wheelchair for her three legged dog Sandy and I think it really made a difference. We had a lesson with her again on Saturday and she just soaked it all up. We invited her to be baptized and she said that she better get out to the church first. So she was all set to go to church yesterday but ended up somehow hurting her knee Saturday night and didn't feel comfortable walking. So next week.
We started teaching an AMAZING less active/part member family and I am completely in love with them. Hands down. Sister Landeen and I had been talking about how we wanted to teach a family and then we were referred to this family. They are so great! Julianna joined the church in Brazil about 10 years ago. She met her husband Ben, who was raised Jewish but isn't practicing, there while he was touring about, and they have a beautiful daughter, Lucia Lucia is 6 and has autism. They are just kind of struggling as all families do to some extent with autistic children and they are just so amazing. Every time we leave their home I just want to cry. I have the strongest feeling we just need to help them as much as we possibly can. They are one of the reasons why I was sent here. I love them. I have to help them.
Well I'm running out of time. Things here are great and hot and lovely. We have the most amazing members who just take care of us SO well. We love it here. Transfer calls, they call you the weekend before transfers to tell you where you are going, are this Saturday. I want to stay! I want Sister Landeen to stay! She thinks either we'll both stay or she'll leave and I'll train. Guh! Hopefully we both get to stay. We are just establishing so much and trying to get the hang of the area. Staying would be good, but not my will but the Lord's be done.
Love you all so much, you are always in my prayers!
Love,
Sister Tribe
This is Sister Landeen and I with our investigator Jacqueline. We LOVE Jacqueline! She is so amazing! She just left for a MONTH to go stay with her JW grandma in Nova Scotia. We miss her already! She's amazing. We are praying that we don't get transferred so we can see her when she gets back! But you know, if that's the Lord's will for us. :)
These are photos with one of our investigators, Cynthia. We love Cynthia. She is so sweet and so loving. We just love teaching her! Her friend Brian was over one time when we stopped by and he took these pictures of us.
