Happy Canada Day and 4th of July!!!
What could be better? Super patriotic week, n'est pas? Hope that's right....never positive when I'm writing French. Well yesterday was Canada Day and we worked! Haha naw, its was fun. The ward had a big breakfast and we went there in the morning. Tons of non-members so we were working the room as best as we could. We made friends with these cute Asian ladies in the ward too, so that was fun. Haha, We were in the library at the church making copies on Sunday and this cute British couple came in and were getting all jazzed about Canada day and then they were asking about our drapes they bought us (yay, they bought us drapes - nicest people ever) and how we need someone to install them for us because we don't have a drill. And they were like oh, we can come put them in for you this week! What about Thursday...oh wait! That's July 4th. You'll probably be out celebrating! And we told them we weren't because we were working and Sister Sheriff (British Lady) shouts out "That's sacrilege " Like That's sacrilegious but abbreviated. So funny! Then she and her husband were like well then we will come put up your drapes and take you out to dinner to celebrate the 4th! So we're going to celebrate the 4th with a British couple in Canada. Needless to say, we are so excited and feel so bless. We live in the happiest place!!!!
What else did I want to tell you about....oh we have the coolest ward. Nough said. They are the best but not always super jazzed about missionary work. They take care of the missionaries SO well but they get nervous slash lazy a little when it comes to missionary work. But don't we all? I think they have the same mentality that most LDS people have. "We've heard the member missionary work a thousand times, we get it." But I don't think we do. We know its important. We've been asked to do it but its way more than that. Its a commandment. God has commanded us to Love the Lord and if we love Him, we keep His commandments. And He's commanded us to love our neighbor. How can we best show love for our neighbors? How about a little eternal salvation and exaltation Yes please! We have eternal joy to offer them not just in the eternities but right now! We hold the secrets and keys to being happy for now AND forever. We just need to be brave and open our mouths. Elder Anderson gave a talk this past conference about missionary work. He's told us we have been asked to do basically three simple things. One, pray for missionary opportunities (promised that names and faces will come to our mind). Two, recognize those opportunities Three, open our mouths (faith will overcome fear, our mouths will be full). We have what everyone is looking for, they just don't know they are looking for it. We've not been asked to go hop up on our soap boxes and cry repentance. We've been asked to invite. Invite people to activities, to Sunday meetings and into our homes - places where the Spirit resides. We invite them to these sacred places, invite them to feel the Spirit and when they ask, what's different about your family, your church, why are you so happy? We tell them and we tell them the truth. Its not just because we're lucky or they caught us on a good day or because we have pretty music. Its because we have the Spirit in our homes. Its because we have the priesthood - the authority to act in God's name. Its because we are members of the one true church here on the earth. This is Christ's church established on the earth. We have scriptures that contain the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It contain everything we need to do to return to live with God and to become like God. He loves us. We know it. And we have a divine obligation to share it. Its a beautiful gift and responsibility. Please, don't miss an opportunity. He has called us to the work and he will qualify us.
I love you all. I pray for you always.
Love, Sister Tribe
There was a huge YSA activity. I mean huge. Like everyone in our whole mission plus people from the states. This was a funny sign put on some food in our ward's fridge.
