Adopted Haitians and "Put a shirt on!"‏

Hello family et ami(e)s!

I always get nervous to write things in French in my emails because I'm not very confident in my French spelling and I get nervous you'll try to Google translate it or someone who knows French will read it and then it won't make sense. Haha

We got a new Ward Mission Leader on Sunday! Its Frere Houde! That doesn't really mean anything to you all but its the best news for us! One of his daughters, Anna, served a mission here. Sister Houde was my first Sister Training Leader back in Ottawa and was the trainer of Sister Leano's trainer. So crazy. We love this family. We're so excited! They live in St. Calixste so that's super far away BUT Frere Houde is the building coordinator for the Stake or something like that so he's at the Church all the time. We're so excited! He said to tell you all, "Bonjour!"

So lots of cool miracles this week. Little ones but they are awesome. Some big ones too.

Soeur Danny
Every Friday we have a Coin de Feu (fireside) at someone's house. Its usually just some recently returning members, active members and one of the investigators of the Mascouche ward. So last Friday we did a Coin de Feu at Soeur Lavoie's house and we had planned on talking about becoming as little children. Well right before we started I had the thought that we should share a story from the Bible, Act 3:1-8. Its the story of Peter and John healing a crippled man outside the Temple Beautiful. So we started by sharing the story of the man and we had some of the members read it out loud.

Watch Bible Video here:

Soeur Danny (the investigator from Mascouche) was the one who read the last verse. After she finished, she handed me my Bible and said, "You chose well." Soeur Danny has MS and has a lot of difficulty walking. I didn't even think about the signification this message would have for her until after she said that. Then the real miracle started. Our members began to testify to Soeur Danny of the power and reality of the Priesthood on the earth. They testified of how miracles are rot by faith. They shared their experiences of giving blessings, receive blessings and the power that it can have when we couple that with fasting. It was so powerful. I can feel the power of that meeting now as I type this. It really was the way the Lord wanted it to be. The members were teaching and testifying and Soeur Danny was invited to act in faith. We all fasted for her this past Sunday and she received a blessing yesterday. We're excited to see how things are going to progress for her.

Harry and Bradley
So we have these two funny Haitian investigators named Harry and his nephew Bradley. Ok, background - our French isn't that great. So when we talk, sometimes people get confused and interpret what we are saying wrong. This happens all the time with Harry and Bradley. So, we have this awesome member named Beverly, who is also from Haiti and so funny. Ever time we are with them we are laughing so hard. She is always trying to reexplain what we've said so that it makes sense. There was an awkward moment in our last lesson that Bradley thought that Sister Leano and I were a couple. Oh man. Thank heavens for members!

We passed by Harry and Bradley Saturday night to invite them to Church. We didn't have a member so we were waiting by the door while Bradley ran to tell his uncle we were there. Bradley yelled up the stairs and told him that we had passed by and that we had brought them something (we had made cupcake things that day).

From an unseen voice up the stairs we here "I don't believe you."
Bradley - "What do you mean you don't believe me? The missionaries are here!"
Harry - "I don't believe you!"
Bradley - "Well come and see for yourself then!"

Bradley was laughing so hard he's practically crying. For some reason he thought it was so funny that we were there and his uncle didn't believe him. It was funny. When he came down he was in shock. Why? I don't really know but it was funny. We told him it was a surprise visit and he said he likes surprises. We chatted for a few minutes and he told each of us how happy he was to see us. It was cute.

Ok, so Sunday night we're having a lesson with them and Beverly is there. Inevitability, Bradley doesn't have a shirt on when we come. So we just awkwardly look elsewhere and try not to make a big deal out of it. So we sit down and Bradley runs upstairs and Beverly asks Harry what his nephew's name is and he says Bradley. Then she yells up the stairs, "Hey! Bradley! You going to join us?" He hollers back, "Yes!" and she yells, "Good! Grab your Book of Mormon AND PUT ON A SHIRT!" We lost it. We started laughing so hard. All of us. Beverly tried to make it better but explaining that it wasn't for her but for the missionaries. Whatever Beverly. She's so funny.

So that night we started answering some questions that Harry has been thinking about. "If I got baptized.." kind of questions. Good Harry. Keep thinking about baptism. We some how ended up explaining temple marriages and the law of tithing. He loves them both. Especially the idea of having a family that can be together forever. So does Bradley. We told Bradley we could see him being a missionary. He said never but the seed is planted. :) They also told us we could be Haitians if we wanted to. They would adopted us. Chances!

Well, we've got to go. Good things are happening here and also so way funny things.

I love you all! Be good examples. Be a disciple of Christ this week.

Love,
